Paris' Biography
In a nutshell, I was born in London, raised in Australia and returned
to London where I played American or English, never Australian.
Fortunately I always had a good ear for dialects and a wide imagination
for my family background. I may have told a director or two that
I was of Russian, French, German or Irish descent, depending on
what was required. The latter happens to be true. I've had the privilege
of working with extraordinary people and in wonderful / interesting
/ get-me-home locations. Sometimes people band together on location
and its like having an immediate family. Sometimes being on location
feels like you are the only person on the planet. I have worked
in the 18th, 19th and of course 20th Century. It is great fun to
have had a sense of what life was like 150 years ago or 50 years
ago. Corsets notwithstanding.
It's a bit like living the life of a time-traveling gypsy.
In the last few years I have been working at the Gate Theatre in Dublin, Ireland
and what a joy and adventure it has been. A few of the illustrious names that have worked there include, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, John Hurt, Frances McDormand and Stephen
Brennan. It is a jewel of a theatre filled with wonderful characters
that have worked there for many years, some for over 30! I
am so grateful for having the opportunity to play Anna in Anna
Karenina, Amanda in Private Lives, Constance in The Constant
Wife and Liz Essendine in Present Laughter. Many thanks ~ Paris
